Solaris/Epic Batteries
The shipment arrived as stated and was well packaged. I bought this set as back-up for the batteries that were coming with the lawnmower I had ordered from Amazon. The batteries arrived before the lawnmower and I charged them prior to first use, leaving them charging overnight. The charging procedure is quite simple. I placed the two batteries on a table and slid the small charging unit over the terminals. Each battery has a handle which helps move them around, but cuts into the palm of the hand. Ladies, I recommend using gloves when lifting/carrying them. They were fully charged when I got up in the morning, and still had strength when I finshed the first mowing. I used the lawnmower on highest cut setting, running it up and down sloping, uneven ground, and did not feel any loss of power. I have only used them twice, so cannot comment beyond that. So far I am very pleased with both purchases.

Battery charged right away and used in the lawn mower the morning after I got them. The lawn mower probably didnt need the second set but I panicked when not making it through my large lawn in one charge on the original set. My grass had gotten pretty high and was the first mowing of the year. Since I have gone without the second set each time. But, I am still glad I got them.

So far so good.
So far this mower works as well as could be expected. With thicker, deeper grass, sometimes I have to make two passes (in varying directions) to get the grass to my expectations. But, I also did that with the gas mower I had before this one. Overall, I would recommend this product without hesitation. Happy mowing!
Works better than you'd think
Everyone and their mother will tell you that you can't cut tall grass with one of these things, but they don't know what they're talking about. What they really mean to say is that you can't cut tall grass easily or quickly, but you can do it if you raise the bar to its highest setting and adopt a mowing style similar to vacuuming. You'll probably be worn out before you're even halfway done, but it'll work.
The instructions are terrible and so are the little thumb screws they give you to assemble the handle, but I love everything else about this mower. It's heavy enough to plow over the thick spots without jumping off the ground too often and its blades make a very satisfying sound. I have some concerns regarding the longevity of the plastic roller bars, but they let you order replacements, so I'm not too worried. The satisfaction of getting to fire my landlord's gardener and keep the money I was paying him to do absolutely nothing every month makes it all worth it.
Do yourself a favor and pitch the little plastic wing nuts they give you to secure the carriage bolts in place--they hurt your hands and work loose with vibration all the time. Pick up some 6mm locking nuts and impact drive them on instead.
Best mower made
If you have a small enough lawn, consider this mower. I have had mine for about 10 years and have it sharpened every 2. Very low or no other maintenance required. This mower actually cuts the grass (as opposed to most power mowers that "beat" the grass) so it is ok to leave the clippings to mulch. I also purchased a catch bag that attaches behind the blade if I let the grass get too long. Your lawn will love this mower, mine is better than golf course quality...., very even cuts. Blade height is also adjustable. Highly recommended.

Consumer Reports Got This One Right
When we moved into our current home two years ago we did not own a mower and the grass needed cutting. We did not have much time to shop around so we relied on Consumer Reports reviews which gave this mower a very high rating. I belive Consumer Reports actually rated the version with the Briggs & Stratton engine. I have nothing against B&S; but for the difference in price I went with the Honda engine. We could not be happier with this mower. I would recommend this mower to anyone.
Great mower!
If you are looking for a mower to get in your regular cardio workout, this is not the mower for you. This mower is easy to use and the Sens-a-Speed works great. I did jog with the mower the other day, and the Lawn-Boy did keep up with my stride, so I guess you can workout with it if you want. This is the second Lawn-Boy I have purchased in 4 months(my first one was stolen) and I am glad I upgraded to the Blade Control 10697 model. My first Lawn-boy was model 10685. I paid less for this model at Amazon than the first one! The BCS is great when you have to stop mowing to remove an object from your path. It is also great when you have to empty the bag and not have to restart the engine every time. Talking about starting, this Honda engine starts on the first pull every time and the pull does not require much effort. Great for us guys that are getting up there in years! The engine is quiet and has a speed control, in case you need to rev-up the engine for heavier than normal cutting. This is my first Honda engine mower, the Sears mower had the B&S engine. So far, so good. Though the bag is not that big, it is WAY easier to remove, empty and reinstall than my old Craftsman. And it seems it's designed better where the bag fills up completely and empties better. The Craftsman grass catcher I would have to bang on the trash can so it would empty all the way. It seemed my Craftsman had a bigger bag, but it didn't seem to fill up properly. Now in the Fall, I am mowing(with the grass catcher on) over all my fallen leaves and the Lawn-Boy picks up the leaves and my yard is super clean, no more raking leaves!! I have had this mower for about 3 months and I am happy with the performance. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it has individual height adjustments instead of one for all four tires. They are all easy to adjust, but having just one adjustor would make this a great mower. I can't complain, I got a great price and fast delivery.

not bad
I chose a push mower over an electric or gas mostly because of convenience and wanting to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Keeping gas in my garage, having to take a lawn mower in for maintenance, or running a cord from the inside of my house to the outside just don't appeal to me. I'd like my lawn and garden to be as sustainable as possible.
Because of the above, I really wanted to be able to give this mower a 5 star rating. But truth be told, after going over my lawn about 4 times with this (and in some areas even more), there are patches of grass in the middle of my yard resembling a bad mullet..I found myself using a rake to try to comb them up so I could shave them off with the mower, kind of like a clean up job after a bad shave... I don't think it's dull blades as the leaves on my lawn were chopped up pretty well. Maybe it's because I let the grass get too long before using this, so I will revisit this review after trying the mower on shorter grass. I was satisfied with how easy it was to push the mower, and putting it together was quite quick too...the handle is held together with just 3 bolts and hooking the handle onto the mower itself was a snap. And I didn't mind having to pick up twigs first but some people might.
Shaky Packaging/Great Mower
The mower was double boxed, and a good thing, since half of the entire top was completely open and the 2nd box, containing the mower, had a large gouge. One long sheet of butcher type paper was the only protection. Amazingly, the mower parts were undamaged and it was a snap to put together. I have now tested it once, after applying WD40 to the blades, and it works like a dream for my small patio yard. I highly recommend but, guys, improve your shipping materials.
Reel Lawn Mower REAL easy
After comparing numerous models and sizes, I decided on this one because of the great deal I received on Amazon. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. It arrived in perfect condition. Assembly took about two minutes, very easy to put together. I used it that afternoon and it did a fantastic job on my lawn. I had to mow twice because the grass was very long, but it was so easy and it looks great! Now that I have been mowing regularly the lawn looks plush and beautiful. I would recommend this mower to anyone with a small lawn. No more gas cans, Yeah.

Great Push Mower
Easy to put together, use and takes up so little space in the garage. If your lawn mower breaks down and you need to purchase a new one, I would highly recommend this push mower - no mechanical maintenance. The bonus this mower provides? Even our six year can mow the lawn.
Finally found it
My old push reel lawn mower (probably more than 50 years old) needed replacement --- the blades were so old they wouldn't stay sharp, and the wheels were slipping because of bald tires. I tried a push-reel lawn mower from Sears, and it was so bad that I took it back for an exchange, because I thought it was defective. Who would market a lawn mower that doesn't cut grass? The second one was just the same. Since the Scott's mower appears to be exactly the same, probably from the same factory, that didn't seem worth trying.
Finally I found this American Lawn Mower model, like my old models. It works beautifully. After using it for a month or so, I find my lawn looking better than ever. I guess the grass appreciates a clean, sharp cut.
I had tried a neighbor's cordless electric, and I actually find this one easier to push. This one will probably need to be replaced in about 50 years too.
Great for my yard
Have a spare yard that needs trimming and mowing but not much. Don't need power, except mine and this little precision mower works just fine. Assembly required but not much.
